Scallop Cage Divider
The Scallop Cage Divider was developed, at the request of scallop farmers, to provide a fast tracked solution to their requirements. The dividers are normally ‘cable-tied’ into position in wrap-around mesh at whatever distance or interval is required. Other means of attachment can be used.
The height of the cage is related to the height of the mesh roll that is used (eg 920mm). A mesh overlap of about 200-250mm forms the door of the cage. Depending on the intended use of the cage, smaller mesh or netting can be affixed to the divider floor.
Unlike soft mesh lantern nets, these cages are more robust and far more easily cleaned of marine growth. Use is not just limited to scallop farming, but can be readily assembled and used for other mollusc grow-out.
The centre hole has a cross piece that can remain insitu or removed depending on whether suspension is required by a centre lift rope or cable, or attached to the top divider in the unit.
